Newsletter - Year 2
Dear informal caregivers, friends and colleagues,
We are pleased to share our annual CROB newsletter! Our work this year has brought us closer to our aim of gaining a deeper understanding of the role of occupational balance in informal caregivers of persons with stroke. Through strong collaboration between the project partners IMC Krems, Karolinska Institutet, and Duervation, we continue to make meaningful progress.
In this newsletter, we would like to share with you the latest developments and findings of our project, as well as provide an outlook on the upcoming activities.

Collaborative Progress: Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
Our project thrives on the strength of our partnerships and the active engagement of diverse stakeholders. This year, we have continued to foster a productive environment characterized by mutual respect and a shared commitment to our research goals.
-
Project Partners: We extend our appreciation to IMC Krems, Karolinska Institutet, and Duervation for their invaluable contributions.
-
Personnel Updates: Our project leader, Hanna Köttl, has returned from parental leave in November 2024 – congratulations on the birth of her daughter!
At Duervation, Michael Schön has replaced Cornelia Lischka until spring 2025.
-
Stakeholder Engagement: We have actively engaged various stakeholders throughout the research process: Informal caregivers, researchers, healthcare professionals, policy makers and technology developers.

Research Updates: Strides in Ongoing Studies
-
Systematic Literature Review: Our review on interventions that address adults’ occupational balance has been finalized and submitted to a peer-reviewed journal. It is currently undergoing a second review session. We eagerly anticipate sharing this publication with you.
-
Needs Assessment: The assessment of stakeholders’ needs has been conducted using extensive user-involvement approaches. We are pleased to announce that all qualitative data collection and analyses have been completed, bringing us closer to developing a comprehensive report on the results. The writing of manuscripts is underway.
-
Quantitative Survey: The survey will remain open until the end of April in both Sweden and Austria. Please share the survey with caregivers of stroke survivors if you know any within your network.

Project Achievements and Future Directions: Dissemination and Outreach
Our project has already yielded significant achievements and laid the groundwork for future work. We are committed to sharing our findings with the wider community:
-
Conferences: Research findings have been disseminated at the Forschungsforum in Krems and the Occupational Therapy Europe Conference in Krakow. The CROB project was also represented at the 3rd Sorgenetz Symposium in Vienna, fostering connections and discussions.
-
Public Engagement: At the Long Night of Research, the public was able to learn about the CROB project, and it was particularly heartwarming to see many families and children enthusiastic about the topic of informal care and occupational balance.
-
Multimedia: We would also like to share our CROB video, which illustrates our work:
-

-
Future Dissemination: Future dissemination activities are planned to ensure the widespread sharing of our findings through publications, conference participations and social media updates
-
Future Research Projects: We have made and planned various submissions to national and EU calls to ensure the financial sustainability of the project.
Looking Forward: Continued Collaboration and Impact
Our efforts will be directed toward achieving the remaining milestones and ensuring a successful completion, with the goal of laying a strong foundation for future impactful work.
A collaborative workshop was held in Krems in early March, bringing together our whole CROB-team, to consolidate preliminary research results and strategically plan the next steps for an EU grant application. Our ultimate aspiration is to secure EU funding, which will enable us to further develop and implement meaningful interventions to enhance informal caregivers’ occupational balance.

We are excited to continue with our research on occupational balance of informal caregivers. If you have any questions or requests, please get in touch with us via crob@fh-krems.ac.at!
